FUSION 2024 Page 6Principal%u2019s ReportWhat an extraordinary year it has been at Boronia K-12 College! As I reflect on my three terms as Principal, I am filled with immense pride and optimism. This year has been shaped by the outstanding contributions of our dedicated staff, hardworking students, and supportive parents%u2014each playing a crucial role in our many successes.I would like to express my gratitude to our College Captains%u2014Vinice Bonganay and Oliver James%u2014and our Vice Captains, Jasmine Campbell, Baelan Coutts, Jade Di Brino, and Miah Pearce, as well as our Junior Captains, Cody Darbyshire-Roberts, Boudica Dickeson, Ava Fairbank, and Aurora Ikin. Their mature and professional leadership has been truly impressive. I have enjoyed meeting with them regularly throughout Terms 2%u20134 to discuss a range of issues and opportunities. Additionally, I want to thank our Student Voice Team for their valuable contributions this year. A special thanks to Ms. Rankine and Mr. Stone for their guidance of our student leadership team. Student voice is vital in shaping the educational experience, and I look forward to working with our new team in 2025.Taking on the role of Principal in Term 2 presented its own set of challenges, especially with the school year already in full swing. However, I am incredibly grateful for the warm welcome I received from our Assistant Principals - Kathryn Middleton, Adrienne Tanner, and Cassandra Wright - who have fully embraced my leadership and supported the positive changes at our college.I would also like to extend my appreciation to our exceptional staff, who work tirelessly to make a difference for our students. Their positive attitude and strong connections with our students, both as learners and individuals, create an environment where everyone thrives. This year, we have made significant improvements to our buildings and grounds, including fresh paint throughout the school, including the student toilet blocks. The new artwork on the grounds, including a world map in the primary area, has sparked students%u2019 curiosity, as has our beautiful new mural in the art garden.A heartfelt thank you to our School Council President, Ms. Susie Colling, and to all the members of the School Council for their ongoing support and active contributions to the governance and improvement of our college.A key focus of mine has been strengthening our connections with the wider community, as I firmly believe that a strong school is the heart of a vibrant, connected community. Our college Fete was an excellent example of this, and I am thrilled by its success. This year, we also conducted our school review, which was a positive and comprehensive process. The feedback we received was encouraging, with the reviewer noting that nearly all stakeholders considered us to be a %u2018good%u2019 school. This sets the stage for our journey ahead, as we strive to move from %u2018good%u2019 to %u2018great.%u2019Looking ahead to 2025, we have a strong plan for school improvement, guided by our new four-year Strategic Plan and dedicated staff improvement teams. We will also be unveiling a new set of college values, an updated vision statement, and a refreshed motto. We%u2019ll continue to embed the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support framework and introduce a new Instructional Model and Mentor Program to further strengthen our teaching practices, including the delivery of the Respectful Relationships curriculum. As we approach the end of the year, we also bid farewell to several staff members who have made significant contributions to the Boronia K-12 College community.
